Have you ever considered green burial? With a green burial, the body is simply placed in a biodegradable coffin or shroud and buried. The goal is complete decomposition and the grave site is allowed to return to nature. Have you been wondering what your options are for a green burial in Humboldt County?
The FCAH board voted this year for our Annual Meeting topic to be about green burial. We are excited to announce to you that we have invited Michael J Furniss to come and share with us his knowledge on green burial. Michael J. Furniss, a local expert on green burial, will be the presenter. He is an adjunct instructor of forestry and ecology at Humboldt State University, and is the principal at M.J. Furniss & Associates, a green burial consulting company.
He also works as a climate, forests and hydropower scientist for the Redwood Coast Energy Authority, and is a long-time member of the Forest Management Committee of the Arcata Community Forest. Furniss has been working on natural green burial and green burial with trees for more than a decade.
A suggested Donation for this event is $25 or sign up for membership with FCAH.
